Location: Nipponbashi, Osaka
Nearest Stations: Ebisucho Station

Nipponbashi or ‘Denden Town’ as it is more fondly called, is the biggest electronics, anime and toy related shopping district in Osaka, Japan. It is often compared to Akihabara in Tokyo though not as widely known to the collecting community.

Located within walking distance of Ebisucho Station on the Sakaisuji Line, and five minutes away from Nippon

bashi Station on the Kintetsu Line, Sakaisuji Line, and Sennichimae Line.

Much like Akihabara it has seen the arrival of some large electronic department stores including Yodabashi Camera in Umeda and Bic Camera in Namba. Both of which are great stores for browsing all the new and up-coming gadgets and technology.

Nipponbashi even has its own Anime character called “Neon” designed by Noizi Ito. Neon is used as a promotional character and can be seen on adverts and shops fronts throughout the area.

Besides the large electronics shops Denden town is the home to a host of smaller retailers specializing in anime, manga, and other otaku-related goods. Mandarake have a store here which is a great source for pretty much ever type of collectable going.

Nippombashi is also home to Tora no Ana, and Osaka Gundams—a two-story all-Gundam outlet. Packed with everything and anything to do with the Gundam series.

The town also features numerous maid cafes and cosplay cafes. These include small and simple maid-themed coffee shops, maid-staffed massage and beautician services, and sit-down style full service cabarets.
