If you can't afford to get to Japan in the near future, you can still get some great Japanese items here in the UK! The web site CDJapan.co.jp stocks loads of great items such as Japanese music CDs, DVDs, T-shirts and manga and anime collectables. In fact, they ship to anywhere in the world so no matter where you live you can still add to your Japanese collection!

Below is a selection of our favourite characters and anime series.

Gatchaman - Battle of the Planets

Gatchaman, or as it was known in the UK, Battle of the Planets, or G-Force in the US is still hugely popular in Japan. If you remember watching this on the TV as child then you should really check it out now as it's still a fantastic viewing experience. Check out the links below to see the adventures of Mark, Jason, Princess, Tiny and Keyop in all their glory.

Sailor Moon - Live Action

Pretty guardian Sailor Moon tells the story of five high school girls with special powers. Based on the famous Anime books, this live action version ran for 49 episodes with 2 made for DVD specials.

The five girls, each named after the moon and planets battle against evil forces while dressed in their distinctive Sailor outfits. The outfits are based on the s?r? fuku school uniform worn by school girls all over Japan.

Transformers

The on-going war between the Autobots and Decepticons seems like it is never going to end. And you can keep the war going by watching them battle on DVD.

Mobile Suit Gundam

Mobile Suit Gundam has been a staple anime series in Japan since 1979 and is still very popular. Spawning comics, cartoons, toys, clothing, video games, furniture and more.

The series follows the on going struggle between the Earth federation and Principality of Zeon who battle in giant robotic suits. A classic piece of Japanese anime.

Studio Ghibli

Studio Ghibli have produced some of the most beautiful and charming animations over the last few decades that make Disney films look like a poor cousin. A few of their films have made it over to the west including Howls Moving Castle, My neighbour Totoro, and Kiki's delivery service.
